JOB DESCRIPTION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL SERVICES
SALARY SCHEDULE: CERTIFIED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
DEPARTMENT: SPECIAL SERVICES
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
SAFETY-SENSITIVE: NO

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive system to provide services to all eligible children and families as required by the Individual with Disabilities Education Act. Responsible for the oversight of data collection and reporting procedures required to demonstrate that the District is in compliance with the state-established performance criteria for special education. Responsible for compliance with state and federal laws and Mid-Del School District policies. At all times, serve as an advocate of children with disabilities in the design and implementation of district-wide policies and procedures for the department.

Required Qualifications QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Master's degree in special education, education administration, or a related field required
Five years of experience in special education, education administration, or a related field required
A valid standard Oklahoma Special Education certificate and Administrative Certificate
Preferred Qualifications ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement policy on all aspects of the Mid-Del School District's special education services.

Assist in the development of special education programs for children with disabilities.

Prepare and implement a District Plan for Special Education in the Mid-Del School District as required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Prepare and administer budgets as required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Develop and implement procedures to identify and place eligible students in appropriate special education programs.

Provide custodial supervision of all confidential files for students with disabilities in the Mid-Del School District as required by federal laws and regulations.

Provide assistance to state, federal, and district auditors monitoring the expenditure of funds and compliance with federal laws and guidance for special education programs.

Provide technical assistance to site personnel with all special education issues and concerns.

Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
