Pleasant Grove Elementary Counselor PK-8th Grade to foster academic, social, and emotional development. They create lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, assess student progress, and communicate with parents to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Instruction & Planning: meet diverse learning needs.
Classroom Management: Establish, maintain, and enforce classroom rules and safety procedures to ensure a productive, positive, and safe learning environment.
Student Assessment: Evaluate students' academic performance, social development, and behavior through tests, assignments, and observation.
Communication & Collaboration: Regularly communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and meet with other professionals to support individual student needs.
Mentorship: Foster social-emotional growth, promoting teamwork, confidence, and positive behavior.
Required Skills & Characteristics
Patience & Empathy: Ability to work with young, developing children with varied emotional and academic needs.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills for teaching and collaborating with parents/staff.
Creativity & Adaptability: Ability to design engaging lessons and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
Organization: Managing lesson plans, grades, and daily classroom routines efficiently.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or a subject-specific area.
Master's degree
State-required teacher certification or licensure.
Passed required background checks
