Description

The Middle School Language Arts Teacher facilitates student growth in both academic and interpersonal skills by delivering district-approved language arts curriculum. The teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The teacher will also integrate the Oklahoma A+ (OKA+) Schools Model, using arts-based approaches, collaboration, and interdisciplinary teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement middle school language arts curriculum that aligns with district goals, state standards, and the OKA+ Schools Model.
-Create a classroom environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and student-driven learning.
-Incorporate arts integration, project-based learning, and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance language arts instruction and foster creativity.
-Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that address the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
-Provide opportunities for students to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through a variety of literary and informational texts, projects, and collaborative activities.
-Assess student progress regularly using both formative and summative assessments, and adjust instruction as needed to support individual and group learning goals.
-Promote responsible citizenship and strong communication skills, including the ethical use of language in academic and social contexts.
-Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments, ensuring compliance with district policies and state regulations.
-Establish effective communication channels with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success and encourage family involvement.
-Promote a classroom culture of respect, inclusivity, and academic integrity, setting high standards for student behavior.
-Collaborate with grade-level and interdisciplinary teams to refine curriculum and teaching practices.
-Select and manage instructional materials, literature, and digital resources that support student learning.
-Supervise students during non-classroom activities, including field trips, reading events, and extracurricular activities.
-Administer standardized assessments in alignment with district testing programs.
-Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or district administration.

Preferred Qualifications -Strong knowledge of language arts pedagogy, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening strategies.
-Ability to integrate arts-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching methods in alignment with the OKA+ Schools Model.
-Proficiency in using technology to enhance literacy instruction and student engagement.
-Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with special learning needs.
-Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
-Commitment to ongoing professional growth, self-reflection, and implementation of best practices.
-Ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
